I stay very busy most weekends, and taking small overnight trips are some of my favorite activities. This bag is very sturdy, yet stylish and pretty. I like that I can identify it easliy when it is bunched together with other travelers' belongings. I cram it full of shoes, clothing, toiletries, hair dryer and straightener and so much more - and it all fits! There are useful pockets and compartments to separate and organize items. The shoulder strap makes it easy and comfortable to carry. I would recommend this to anyone who is on the go, and likes to be ready at a moment's notice!

Almost perfect. Could use zips on outside (black microfiber), maybe one inside. LOVE all the pockets.
I do adore my Vera Bradley weekender tote. It is huge, with a great wide open compartment, so you can even throw big jackets in there, if necessary. However it is also ultra organized, with several pockets completely lining both the interior and exterior, so you can keep things organized and not always having to dig into a big black hole. AND it has a luggage sleeve to slip over your carry on suitcase, which brings it to nearly perfect.
The great thing is that there are different sized pockets. On one side of the interior, there are two nice large ones, while the other side has three slightly smaller ones. I can't begin to tell you what a difference this makes. Not only can you store things more efficiently, but you can tell at a glance which pocket you want, whereas you would have to start digging if they were all the same size. Same thing on the outside, two big pockets in front and smaller pockets on either side of the luggage sleeve in back.
The only teensy little nitpicking I have with this bag is that none of the pockets have zippers. At least, not on the black microfiber version. Strangely enough, the black cotton has zippers on the two big front exterior pockets. I wanted the microfiber, though, and the lack of zippers hasn't been a huge inconvenience thus far. I just don't understand why some fabrics have them and some don't. Especially since this microfiber is barely distinguishable from cotton.
But whatever, I still love the bag, zippers just would have rated 5 stars. Probably. The thing is, the smaller pockets don't have much room at all. If you put an umbrella in one of the back exterior pockets, its opposite on the interior will have very little room to put anything at all. This is one of the side effects of not having zippers. Because if they made the pockets bigger, they would gape when empty, which is not a good look.
On the whole, though, I do still find the pockets functional enough to be useful. I have enough small or flat items to stick in them. They are a good place to stick boarding passes, for instance.
Another thing that would have been great would be to have little feet on the bottom. This fabric bag sits right on the floor or ground. There is a nice sturdy piece of cardboard in a flap on the bottom interior of the bag, which allows it to retain its shape and works great. It's removable so that the bag can be washed, and I actually prefer the bag without it. Makes it easier to squish it into tight places.
On the whole, this is the best bag I've found to use for under the seat in front of me. It holds everything I could possibly want on the flight - food, lotion, even pillow and blanket if I wish. But it's super lightweight and very stylish. With the included crossbody strap, luggage sleeve and uber organized pockets, it manages to meet all of my needs.

Love Very Bradley quality and design!

I've just recently started purchasing Vera Bradley over the last several months, and I've been so happy with every item so far. I bought the Weekender Tote in the Moon Blooms (which is retired). I just adore this pattern, which is what got me started on Vera Bradley, and when I saw this tote was available on Amazon in "my"pattern, I had to have it. I'm usually traveling every weekend to go care for my Mom, and this is a nice size to take along with my larger bag. There is a tote that is larger than this one in Vera Bradley that I will likely get next. This one would definitely not be large enough for me for a weekend, but I'm also carrying extras with me in case I have to stay longer than just the weekend. It has great pockets on the inside all of the way around, which I like for stashing smaller items, glasses, socks, etc. On the exterior there is a zippered pocket which is pretty large, but is "flat" so a good place to put a sweater, papers, etc. For air travel, I wouldn't use this even as a carry on, just because I wouldn't want it to get stained (LOL) and more of an issue for me is that I like sturdier material / hard-sided type bags that offer greater protection of my belongings. For the car travel I need it for it's great, it's lightweight, and has a substantial shoulder strap with a very nice shoulder pad. I very highly recommend this Vera Bradley Weekender Tote!
